How far from 12's should I be??

Hey guys. I was just curious as to how far from 12's I will be with my new setup i just currently added 3.73 gears, Madz28 tune, LT4 KM, and had the tranny freshly rebuild with better parts. I ran 8.76 at my local 1/8 mile track with my 2.73 gears. I know the gears were really holding me back and I am confident the tune is going to be a nice improvement bc I had some black smoke at times so i think i was maybe running a little rich. Anyway, how far do u think I am from 12's and what are some small things i could do to get me there? I ran the 8.76 with about 1,000 miles on the freshly rebuilt motor and it only has about 3k on it now. Thanks, Dustin.

Re: How far from 12's should I be??

I have 3.42's LCA's and relocators, BMR STB, PHR, free mods, GMPP CAI, quite a few weight mods, low option car, best synthectics/fluids money can buy, fresh tranny and rear, mad Z in a month or so along with a off road y-pipe and magnaflow and it should be good for very low 13's I think. At least thats what I have been told but I never got to the track last season and I think my car is a factory freak because I was beating cars that I should have lost to last season that had good drivers. So with the headers and tires you should be able to break a high 12 Id say.

Based on my calculations. I am going to need to knock about 4/10ths off my 1/8th mile time to have any realistic chance of hitting a very high 12 in the 1/4. U think 3.73's and a tune is enough for that??

Re: How far from 12's should I be??

For what it's worth I dropped 2 tenths 1/4mi going from 2.73s to 3.42s. With those gears, long tubes, cai, and an xpipe i went 13.22. Not too sure if you'll be there, but it may be close...

I know I am going to have to work on my launching. With the converter and the 3.73's I think I am going to have to practice alot to get some traction, I will probably lower the tire pressure and put skinnies on the front when I make the runs. So far I am hearing what I like.
