How exact should pushrod length be?
I was told in another thread that in order to decide what pushrod length would be right for my setup is to subtract the total milled off my heads, and the difference in head gasket thickness.
Example: Stock pushrod is 7.200". I'm milling my heads .030. So subtract .030 from 7.200 and get 7.17. I'm running impala head gaskets which are .020 thinner than stock, so subtract another .020 from 7.17. Total is 7.15. Thats the length I should shoot for. So what would be an acceptable range to run? So far I've only seen 2 sizes for sale, 7.20 and 7.13, there's probably more out there, but I haven't looked very hard yet. I want them hardened BTW. The setup is: stock ported heads, cc306, new oem GM lifters, 1.6 rockers. So what size would be acceptable to run? Thanks!
