Question How do you remove heater core to clean it out?

It's getting colder around here and the heating in the Z is not blowing a hot as it used to. I've heard of people removing the heater core and actually hosing it out or cleaning it out and noticing much hotter air in their heating system. Anyone have a guide or write-up on how to do this? I'd like to try out this method before purchasing a new heater core. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't remove it unless replacing it..
Just remove the hoses, and run a garden hose to it, and flush it that way.. [watch that opti!]

Have you tried just flushing the cooling system yet? I would try that before pulling the heater core and see if it helps. I think they sell some cooling system cleaner to use when flushing it to help clean out the heater core too. I have not removed the heater core on a 4th gen but I did one once before on another Chevy car, it wasn't fun and 4th gens don't look any easier.
