there are some good pics and instructions on this site. Last week on SpikeTV on the Power Block they pulled an LS1 out the bottom. You may want to watch for a re run. also JONEZ_Z has a post with some pics of his rebuild.
the basics
disconnect battery, front brake lines from abs, fule lines and AC. take out drive shaft and tranny cross member.disconnect the wireing harness from inside the pass. side of car. Disconnect groundwires. take out 6 bolts that hold the K member in place. Take out 4 bolts on each strut tower. if you have an Engine hoist and a floor jack you can roll the front end out from either side of the car....thats about it in a nut shell.
