How do I make my exhaust really quiet???

Here's the deal, I am going to be getting an electric cutout soon, so I want the rest of my exhaust to be real quiet. I have a magnaflow catback, and I really like the looks of it, so I want to keep it, and my catalytic converter is gutted. So what can I do to make the exhuast quieter when not using the cutout? Will a bullet muffler be enough? I want it to sound like stock if possible, or not much louder anyway. Thanks

Go with a stock non gutted cat or a Hooker muffler. Better than stock but fairly quiet. Mine isnt THAT quiet with the LTs but I can imagine that with stock manifolds the Hooker wouldnt be too loud. If you dont really care about exhaust flow with the cutout closed then a stock muffler would be fine.

I don't really care about the exhaust flow when the cutout is closed. I want to keep my magnaflow setup though. Are there any mufflers I could weld into the long pipe that goes to the muffler?

I want to get a catalytic convertor, but they are expensive, and it looks like none of the cheap ones come in 3" inlet and outlets. Would a couple 18' bullet mufflers quiet it down?

Yeah, you could throw a bullet style muffer on there. That would quiet it down a lot. Also, try to find a used cat in the for sale section. Or maybe even ebay.

Really, I have heard they don't help very much. I wish I wouldn't have gutted my cat, but the ceramic stuff inside broke off and always rattled. Any other adive?

Also, where can I get the cheapest bullet mufflers, and electric cutout? thanks

I don't know if you are kiddin' or not, but they are bein' sarcastic. Bullet mufflers are loud as hell. I just got true dual Bullets on my car this past Saturday. Holy crap...it's loud.

they're talking about adding a bullet muffler before the actual muffler so it would be extra-quiet.

CarSound/MagnaFlow(same company) make a 3in/3out cat that is only like $40. Check Ebay for CarSound. The carsound ones are the same as the MagnaFlow but the MagnaFlows come polished. I just had Mufflex put two on my car w/ a custom y that connects to the Borla and it's almost too quiet...OR, maybe my hearing is just shot from driving for like 2 months w/ open headers.

After changing out my 99 SS muffler (which was very quiet and flowed well) I thought my Magnaflow was too loud for my 45 years so I added a 14" polished stainless steel bullet before the pipe goes over the axle.I also had a pair of 3" resonator tips I got at Autozone that I was using with the 99.. They fit right inside the Magnaflow tips almost perfectly and now my exhaust is only slightly louder than a stock 99 SS muffler. Much more pleasing at cruise. If I put a bigger bullet in there it would be even quieter.
