I bought mine off an SS and its very quiet IMO. Even with headers gutted cat, etc etc.

So how do i know if it has one or not and can i remove it and how?

to know, you'd have to know what year the ss was and what the build number was. I was under the impression that the first 1500 SS's made in 96 didnt have the silencer. All the 97 SS's had it as well as the ones SLP sells new.

 

if its quiet then you probably have it..mine is pretty damn loud with no cat.

 

So where is the silencer if i have it and how do you remove it?

SLP had said some time ago that the aftermarket units they sell do not have the cone. Aftermarket is not worried about loudness of an exhaust. The cone was inserted on the factory cars.

 

its probably silencer, mine without a cat was really loud...
