How do I know if my Opti-spark is vented?
How do I know if my Opti-spark is vented?
This may sound like a dumb question, but I really need to know. See, when I bought the LT1 from the guy, he told me it was out of a 94 Z28. But, I was going to buy an Oil Pressure switch which I believe on a 93 and 94 was located on the side of the block by the oil filter if Im not mistaken, but mine is on the back of the intake, under the EGR unit. So, Im just looking for ways to check for sure what year my engine is. Thank you.
Re: How do I know if my Opti-spark is vented?
The only thing I see is the spark plug wires, and the plug in port for the opti, so I guess it is a 94, but why is my oil pressure switch on the back of the intake?

1993's and early 1994's were located on the left hand side of the block above the oil filter. So yours is just a late 1994. Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I think all the LT1's have a spot above the oil filter where you can put the sensor. I know mine does.
Re: How do I know if my Opti-spark is vented?
I found out mine is just a late 94. But, now I have an all new question for you. I just got my MSD cap and Rotor from O'rielly's, and by the way, they had the Borg Warner cap and rotor at $224 and the MSD at $165, but none the less, I got it today, MSD PN# 8481 and it has what apears to be vents. Now, on the bottom there is a large vent and on the top by the connector there is another. The instructions say this is to be hooked up to a vaccum and will ventilate the opti. Does the work? Can someone shed some light on this for me?
