I cant remember on an LT1 but there should be a goofy looking bulb like thing on the back of the block kinda where the distributor would have been. The is the sender for the electrical gauge. Take the wire off that and unscrew it so it come out of the block. Take the little pipe fitting that came with the gauge and screw it into that port. Connect the line to that pipe fitting and run the line into the car. Hook that line up to the gauge and there you have it exact oil presure. Make sure that you route the oil line out of the way you dont want anything to crack or break it becasue it will squirt oil (at high pressure) into your car. Not fun.

Hope that helps. Anyone else feel free to add or correct.

Hmm, most of that makes sense. The distributors are on the front of these cars though, so I'm not sure about some of that.

to the original poster, why didn't you go with an electric gauge? To me, it would be worth the extra cash.

I understand that the opti is in the front, thats why I said where a distributor would be.
Basically back of the block on the top. If you look you will see.

You can also screw your fitting right over the oil filter. That's what I did. It allowed me to hook up an electric oil pressure guage and keep the stock one, so you can get a reading of the oil pressure in two different areas of the block, plus I get a higher reading over the oil filter so it makes me feel better Good luck.

im not installing a guage permanently in the car, im simply needing to hook one up, to observe if the stock guage is reading correctly, since they are often quite a ways off. i have an apperent oil pressure problem at high rpms, and i think there may be a problem with the lifters, so i need to see whats actually goin on with the pressure before i make assumptions on how to fix the problem.

thanks for all the replies guys, im going to find a guage tomorrow and hook her up!
