How do I do a Proper Pre-oil before initial Startup?

4 long days of building up the stroker are done! going in tomarrow!
only 2 questions.....

How do I do a Proper Pre-oil before initial Startup?

And the red stuff on the coolant temp sensors... Is that red threadlocker or is it some sort of red thread sealer.....

I have both but im not sure which to use.....

thanks!

I did mine, by cranking the motor over with the coil wire unhooked....

It can be RTV or a threadlocker.... leave it alone....

I think there are better ways than cranking it over at a few hundred RPMs with no oil.... In fact. i dont think the oil pump really functions much below 1000 I've heard of pressure lubing but im not sure how I would hook it up....

As for the CTS, what do you mean leave it alone? I gotta transfer em to the new heads / water pump.

Un hook either the coil wire or the sensor that goes to the opti and disconnect the harnesses for each individual injector...and go at it. I did it three times and had no problems at all. Each time I did it the oil pressure rose

You should have enough lube between the bearings and packed into the oil pump that there should be no problem.

You can buy an adapter to fit in where the oil pump drive gear goes, so you can spin the pump with a drill. The intake obviously has to be off to use that.
Assembly lube really should protect it enough if you just crank it with the starter and the pcm ign fuse pulled. To make it easier to spin and less load, you could do it with the plugs out. You should easily get oil pressure during cranking.

Put thread sealant or teflon tape (not thread locker) on your sensor threads.

thanks, guess Ill hope the assembly lube does its job, If anyone has ever done the pressusrized thing please explain how. IM thinking you could hook up to an oil cooler line and pump 5 quarts in at you are rotating it by hand....

Yes, just yank the PCM fuse, and crank the motor.

I cranked mine over off and on for about 5 minutes. The oil pressure guage showed normal pressure after about 1 minute of cranking... but I wanted to make sure I had oil on all bearings etc before I fired it up.

Didnt hear any unusual noises at startup when I did it this way - it was quiet as can be (as quiet as a 383 w/ open headers gets anyway )
