Here's a burnout video I have where I hit the rev limiter for a second after taking it up through 1st gear.. I hit it a second time as well. That's what it sounds like in an A4 (I was holding 1st gear manually, then moved it to 2nd during the burnout)

Ahhh okay, very helpful video, thanks.

I don't know what I was thinking.... I've heard cars bounce off the limiter plenty of times. *slaps head* I guess it's been so long since I've heard it that I just started remembering it as a thing Hondas do. lol

That very well could be whats going on with my car. Although I don't see why the transmission would only slip enough for it to just hit one quick time. That's part of why I was wondering if the headers were in need of a tune that would include raising the limiter. Maybe I just need a Level 4 FLP.

BTW, your car sounds badass.

Thanks

When a tranny begins to slip it can be a *very* quick hit of the rev limiter and then shift... it's not abnormal.

As for a tranny rebuild.. if you determine that's the case, talk to Frank95Z, he seems to be the man to go to, and I believe significantly more affordable than FLP. My friend bought a tranny from him and its working out great for him so far on spray launches.

Ahhh affordable is good, especially since I was going for heads and cam by March. I'll keep him in mind in case I need it (and I will need a built tranny with H&C anyway) thanks.

My car only has 40,000 on it and has done it since new. If you are holding it to the floor from 1st to 2nd will just kiss the rev limiter while or just before it shifts. but it just squaks the tires too. I have a 93 with the older A4 not the electronic I dont know if that makes a difference I also have the 2.73 gears

So I guess I should 86 the idea of getting the car dyno tuned, be it a transmission issue... or a miss?

Scan the car and find out what is actually happening. If you can't scan it, then take it to the dyno place and have them scan it. If it is hitting the limiter then they can fix it.
