How common is it to break a transmission mount?

I just had my broken transmission mount replaced, and then the symptoms from before started happening again. The car makes a clunking noise that comes right from around the center console. Unless it's not the transmission mount I have no idea what else it could be but it's bugging the sh*t out of me considering I just got it fixed. I would expect a transmission mount or whatever the probably may be to withstand more than what the Camaro is capable of full throttle wise because these parts shouldn't be breaking so easily. if it isn't a transmission mount, does anyone have any ideas?

It is very common. The last time I changed mine I took two large band clamps and crisscrossed over the tranny and under the crossmember and tightened them down snug, havent had a problem since, and no excess vibrations.

I've personally broke 4 of them.

got sick of it and put in a ES tranny mount and I've beat'n the crap out of it and it's good to go.

Go with a poly mount. You feel more vibration but they are stronger.

I took the car back to the place where they put it on and I showed the mechanic. I had done a search for transmission mounts before and someone had likened the sound to a bowling ball slamming on the ground. And that's what it did. He said it was bad. Lifted the car up, the mount was broken, the shop was right next to a transmission place and they gave me a universal mount for the th700. Put that on. Stopped clunking, but I haven't punched it from t he line yet. But where it would have been clunking previously it wasn't anymore. So I am satisfied. In and out in less than 45 minutes with a new mount. I'm going to order a replacement mount anyway just in case, so does anyone know which one I should go with? I've heard good things about the polyeurothane mount from summit racing, any other good mounts I should know about or that are recommended?

I replaced a tranny mount after installing my shift kit. It was about 6mo. after I got the shift kit that it broke. My car has 60k miles on it.

i changed my mount 2 weeks ago...

if u dont wanna break anymore, go to solid mounts--but that makes the ride rough

I changed mine about a month and a half ago. I was driving down the road cuaght a farm truck from behind and when I finally got a bit of a gap to get around him I nailed it and when the car shifted to 2nd all I heard was a big thud under the center console. Got it home put it on the lift and sure enough the mount was ripped almost completely in half. I ordered a Poly mount from Summit for something like 30-40 bucks and haven't had a problem since.

Yep, just stick a new Poly mount on the thing and you won't have anymore problems. You might also consider replacing the torque arm bushing while your under there.
