new 383, put the pick-up tube on to test the fitment and i cant get the pan on with the tube on to save my life and i dont know why... it seems that the pick-up needs to be a special one?

 

Indeed, the pich-up is special, and far as I know only canton has them. They hav several part # for that pan and different oil pumps. The one I have is for 20-023 which is for 7.5" deep pan and M155HV pump with 3/4". Call canton for info if your's any different.

 

thats correct, if you get a canton pan you will need the pick up to go with it, even if your using your stock or aftermarket oil pump
