How cold is everyones A/C?

I got a '94 Camaro that is black on black, and the A/C seems to take forever to get cold. I know that the black attracts the heat and the sun, but it takes about 15 minutes before its even bearable to put the windows up. I first thought that the system could be low on R134A, but I checked it with a gauge and its right where its supposed to be. Now, I've heard that the first couple of years they started using R134A in cars they used modified R12 systems so they never really got ice cold, in the later 90's they improved the R134A systems. So I'm wondering if theres something wrong with my A/C system or if its just supposed to take a while to work. How cold is everyone elses and in what year car? Thank you for any input.

Might just be glitchy or the year i don't know, my frien dhas a 94 but when we put his 383 LT4 in there we took off the a/c compressor, and well mine might as well double as a ice maker. Takes about a min. to start up.

Just takes about 45 seconds or so to start getting cold...even in 90* days.

I would check to make sure the A/C condensor is not plugged with leaves or debris. Also make sure there is no crap between the A/C and radiator that would stop airflow.

My '94 doesn't get cold enough and I got a new compressor and new free-on last year. I'm in Houston though where the heat index has been around 105 lately.

I'd love to get my colder too.

I put a thermometer in the vent today and max A/C on full blast was on 40 degrees, but after a while of driving though, and the car still didn't seem that cold inside. I think the dark color is causing alot of it, I went to take a T-top off the other day and I think it gave me third degree burns when I grabbed it! Its seriously like an oven in there when I get in after work.

I would probably think it's your black car. I use to have one and I could have the car ice cold and then turn it off for a min and it would be an oven again. Try putting your T-top blinders in and cracking the windows when you're parked, that might help.

my 93 air is ice cold. does take a while to cool down the black interior though. I don't have T tops which helps.

I HATE ALL OF YOU..... My A/C compressor just blew seals on a 1100 mile (one way) trip to Florida. I was sooooo pissed! Now this post has made me even madder. You all suck!

Mine works great! We had a few 95F days here recently, with 50-60% humidity, and within a minute after getting in the car, I was comfortable. My AC cools things down very fast, and pumps out extremely cold air.

A tip for you guys. On a super hot day, crack the windows a bit for the first couple of minutes to help push out the hot interior air (if you were parked in the sun) and make sure it's not on MAX AC at first since this recirculates the inside air. At first it'll be trying to cool down the hotter interior air, so running it on the normal AC mode at first will get the interior cooler faster. Then after a minute or two, switch to MAX AC, then it will work more efficiently since it'll be recirculating and recooling the now cooler interior air.
