We had emission testing in three urban counties in MI up to a few years ago. If you failed the test, the most you had to spend was $50 for an "emission tune" or similar. I'm definitely glad that they did away with that program. My car hasn't a prayer of a chance to pass any emission test. In fact, I bet if I hooked up a spark plug to my exhaust pipe, I could blow flames 3' out the tailpipe.

thats not correct. diesel smog is just particulate matter, just floats around and then settles on the ground, just like dust or something. sure it might not be good for the lungs if u inhale allot of it, but gas fumes is what kills the ozone. thats why diesels have not had smog tests up untill recently.

Ever get caught behind a bus in heavy traffic for any length of time? The CO emissions will put you to sleep. Why do you think the newer buses have their exhaust pipes up high now?

Im with djlup..I'm curious as to what 2 injectors and EXACLTY what was invovled..step by step that you did to pass it..I have to get my Z emissioned soon and I have an aftermarket cam and all that stuff upgraded, only thing stock is my exhaust manifolds really..even the exhaust and cat are 3". So with my mods in my sig..will I have a problem?
My first impression was that the car would hesitate and not run right if you disconnected even 1 injector
All in all..the injector thing is WAY better than the AIR trick IMHO...if all you do is disconnect something..then put it back to normal..you're set and nothing got messed up. The other way requires drilling and welding and all that crap. Someone tried this that can make a 'how to' list?

if i get a cam or headers i'll pull it off, just wasnt enough hp to run without it.
* Are there O2 sensors before and after the cat? If so, wouldn't pumping extra air into the exhaust cause the engine to run rich?
* BlackLT1_TX, I can feel your pain since I live in Sacramento CA. We have the same emissions testing with the exception of everyother year. Next time you know where they are measuring drive-by emissions, turn your engine off in the measurement area. That will be measured as an error. Enough errors and they don't send the violations and they have to check the equipment for proper calibration. Really it works if enough people do it.
* Do you have to make any adjustments (whatever) if you remove your cat?

Cat?! Why would you put a furry little critter in your exhaust?

No. Just a hot wrench and some tubing.
