how can you take carbon deposits off pistons?
I pulled heads off of the block and it has fairly heavy carbon deposits on every piston...is there anyways to take that stuff off the pistons without ruining anything?-Mark

Walls??????Don't work down in the cylinder to do that.
Rotate the crank to put the piston your working on at the top and use a brass wire brush about the size of a tooth brush. After your done with each one, blow it off/out with compressed air real good and go on to the next one. As the previously cleaned one goes down(while you rotate the next one up), spray a favorite lubricant in the previously cleaned cylinder and put a rag in it to keep from getting crap from the next ones in it again.
Soaking the piston with Seafoam for a while before you get started can help loosen the crud so it's easier to get off.
Remember, anytime your inside the engine, always change the oil and since you are at the water jacket openings as well, change the coolant also.
Don't forget to use thread sealant on the head bolts and chase the threads before hand so you get consistant torque readings.
