The only way to make sure is to take it in to measure the stroke (piston travel) at a shop. UNLESS, you know what it's supposed to sound like stroked or some noticable features I may not know about until someone can pitch in.

I know that in some cu.in. restricted race classes they pump the motor to catch cheaters. So there is equipment out there that can determine cuibic inches without tearing it down.

You can usually tell when an engine has been disassembled. Maybe you should tell us WHY you think you do not have a 383.

take a air hose adapter and get the cyl to BDC then cc the cyl with antifreeze and do it quick b/c its going to run in the oil.

You could try trans fluid too.
