How can i clean my Throttle Body??????

I read a site someone linked to about helping to improve gas mlg, and it said that you should keep your TB clean. How can I clean my TB? Do i need to disconnect all the sensors? Do i need to take it off the intake to do so??? Any advice/procedures would be quite helpful.

I ocasionally take mine off and wash it in the solevent tank in my school auto lab. The gasket is usually reusable.

It's very easy. Remove the TB from the intake and remove any electronic connectors and dissassemble the unit. DO NOT use toilet bowl cleaner. Believe it or not, I've seen a lot of people use it. It will eat at the metal. Same goes for rim cleaner. Use a solvent. Personally, I like using brake cleaner. Just wear eye protection and work in a well ventilated area. You can reuse the gaskets, however, I always change them. The whole process should not take any longer than 30 minutes. Never EVER use WD-40 or a similar product in the TB. That stuff has a carrier film which will attract dirt and dust.
