How big of a cam????????

can I run without changing Valve springs. I have intentions of a stroker for next winter so i'm just wanting to do a cam to get me by this summer.

STOCK! If you change to any cam, I don't care if it is smaller than stock, you are going to want to change valvesprings, unless that is something that you have done recently... You don't want to put a cam in without changing valvesprings, that is a big no no.

Why would you want to skip the valve springs?

You can get LT4 springs for $37 from paceparts.com

ok how big of a pain in the rear is it to try and change the springs while the heads are in the car on a Z. Just imagining that it is a major pain.

not really, you will need a air compressor,
hose and adaptor to fit in spark plug hole,
valve spring tool.
