Hotcam tuning/gains

Hi guys, got my car running well now with the new hotcam, rk headers, offroad pipe, flowmaster catback, moroso cai. Stock heads.

The car feels fairly quick, but I was expecting a bit more. At idle, the smoke while not too much, will make your eyes tear. I am definitely needing a tune. Question is, guys who have run with and without a tune, what kind of gain in power have you found, is there a big seat of the pants difference?

BTW, I am surprised that this cam has what I would call a noticeable lope. I thought it would be a bit milder.

As far as tuning, I just ordered a cable from akm electronics. Am I right that there are some free programs that let you monitor the ECM?

I am thinking about ordering a tune, or getting tunercat and giving it a go myself. Any suggestions?

thanks

I had PCMforless tune mine, I'm guessing it picked up 15rwhp or more over the stock program. I didnt get it dynod before the tune though. He really knows how to tune the hotcam

I also used PCMforless and picked up about 2.5 mph in the 1/4 in roughly the same weather. I was quite happy.

I would NEVER use a mail order tune again.
I used Ed Wrights program for 3 years and had constant knock
problems

Buy LT1 Edit. Use a dyno, find someone who knows what they're doing if possible.

I gained 30rwhp from a dyno tune using LT1 edit. The car has NEVER pinged once since the tune.
