hotcam with stock replacement timing set?
Re: hotcam with stock replacement timing set?
if you look at it that way, a stock cam could break a timing chain, and has. i could spin a bearing tomorrow for all i know. maybe my rear end would give out.
lots of things may or may not happen. considering my car is a dyno ***** and i dont go to the track/race ever, I believe that a stock replacement chain would suffice. considering the difference in price between that and an lt4 ED set....
im just looking for others who may concur.

Re: hotcam with stock replacement timing set?
I put a fresh OEM timing set when I did my cam a month ago. I also have a Hotcam. I'm only shooting for ~400 hp car, and I even think that number is just fine for a stock timing set. I don't think that's too much to ask of a stock timing set.
Re: hotcam with stock replacement timing set?
I have had the stock oem replacement timing set since 1998 (70,000 miles). When I pulled my motor last weekend my gears had minor wear. The chain also had very little wear and streching of the chain. I am putting a stock replacement back in my rebuilt motor.

Re: hotcam with stock replacement timing set?
I am running the cc306 (much bigger than the hotcam) and my friend is running the gm847. Both of us are on stock oem replacements and I spin to 6500, he spins to almost 7000.
