Hotcam and SLP shorties
Hotcam and SLP shorties
I have a 97 thats been converted to a 6-speed. I am still running the 3.23 rear. This winter I hope to install the Hotcam kit and the dual-cat shorties. I chose these items after much thought and concessions to legality. My question for those that may have made these same mods is how much did it move the torque curve. Will it still feel responsive with the 3.23's or should I plan on a gear swap too? I realize that these mods are more for the higher end but I wonder about the "seat of the pants" feel that you don't get from a dyno chart. I already have CAI and a Magnaflow catback and will have the new combo tuned by Bryan. Thanks in advance. Paul.
Re: Hotcam and SLP shorties
I used 3.23s, 6 speed, bigger cam and slp shorites. Its still had plenty of power but taking off from a stand still forced me to ride the clutch more then I wanted. That wore the clutch down. The best thing was traveling at a 100 mph at only 2000 rpms. Good gas miliage, 75 mph at 1500 rpms.
Re: Hotcam and SLP shorties
i have the hotcam kit and power really picks up about 3k rpm all the way to my 6,500rpm redline. if you chose different gears 3.73's or 4.10's would really get the "seat of the pants" feeling you want, but with 4.10's your top speed is only going to be around 125

Re: Hotcam and SLP shorties
umm with 3.23s and 6 speed the car is geared to go nearly 300 mph. using 4.10s it would still be geared to go over 200 mph. So your top speed would not be effected by changing the gears.
