Hotcam-cc305-224/230-cc306?

ok i need some help here.. This week im picking a cam Ill tell you folks about my car and goals and you can best help me pick my killer..

my car has 118,000 miles, a4, 2800 stall, shift kit, 3.73, cold air, and cut out..

last year I ran 13.662 at 105 with only gears and cold air at Mid Michigan motorplex (with a dying opti and a exhaust leak at right after passenger manofold)

went to the track after stall, shift kit , and hpp+ only got one run of 13.502 at 105

Still havent replaced the opti yet because i wanted to just get through the summer with out tearing it apart

well its next summer cars going down hill so ordered an opti figured id put a cam in while im doing it and just put a order in at jet hot for some long tubes..

All Im looking for is the highest Trap speed and best hp numbers on stock heads but dont wanna replace the cam when I get my heads done...

( im doing opti , cam, long tubes and valve springs and 1.6 rr's all at the same time )

what should I go with.. and still be decentally drivable not worried about emissions or stuff like that just want a beast.

only drive it on the weekends and about 3300 miles a year

i have the 224/230 on 112. this is a great cam. the car really comes alive around 3000rpm. this cam is almost perfectly matched for the gears and stall you have. i was running a 3000 stall until i went m6. my z is my daily driver and i have no problems on the street. all i have now is a faster car. the idle is good and people still think its stock until i drop the hammer on them.

I'd say go for the CC306. It's the most aggressive of those cams and since it isn't a daily driver it should be ok. I've heard that cam is awful to live with if you have an auto and have to drive in any sort of traffic, though.

If it's gonna be a mostly track and highway cruising car, the 306 should suit you well. If not, go for the 224/230.

First hand experience for me and the CC306 gets a bad rap for that. Sitting in traffic is nothing. I have very minimal cam surge and it idles very nicely. Its just a bit louder if that will bother you. This is with stock converter and stock 2.73s. Check my sig. It comes alive around 3k and on the highway is very nice.

There was a thread in adv tech that came up about cams and Bret made the comment that with stock heads he likes the cc305 for a off the shelf cam. If I had another car I would swap in that cam. One person pulled almost 335rwhp on stock heads and a mostly stock tune and would more then likely had been put over 340rwhp even with a PCMforless tune, though that was a 6sp but you get my point. Plus it is on a 114lsa that help with nitrous.
