Talking HOTCAM in the 12's!!!!!!

this post is dedicated to the "baby" cam... known as the HOTCAM!! just figured id share my results with the hotcam, in hopes to encourage people to BUY THIS CAM!!!

just got back from the track.... and it looks like this....

R/T .931
60' 1.93
1/8 8.27
MPH 87.66
1/4 12.6
MPH 112.20

yup... a 12.6 @ 112 i even surprised myself. ive been stuck at 13.1 with some traction issues, but finally got the car to hook! man what a feeling! i was hoping to at least break the 12's with a 12.9.... but a 12.6

for anyone considering a hotcam... GO WITH IT! yeah there are bigger cams out there, and you can go a lot faster than mid 12's.... but it all depends on what you want. i drive my car everyday! for $450 for the package, it really cant be beat!

thats about it! just figured id post since im thrilled!!!

congrats dude. Who tuned the pcm?

I sold my lt4hotcam. When i get more money, ill get an other cam. I justed wanted to go bigger. But its proven that the cam will net you 12's. For the price you paid , you cant go wrong.

If you dont have headers yet. I suggest them next.

suspension and tires would help a lot, it's what puts it all down to the ground anyways
also, maybe some 1.7 rr's, nittos, and some lca relocation brackets would help a bit
go ahead and search the boards, plenty of info
the only thing holdign you back a lot is that you have a vert, a lot more weight with that thing, might want to reduce weight for the track if you want

btw, congrats on the time 1995redz28

I think now i really should have gone with the Hotcam----I got now the Comp Cam Xtreme Energy 212/218 with .520/.528 with 1.6 rockers. Any " real" difference between the Hotcam and the Comp Cam Xtreme Energy 218/224 with .528/.536 with 1.6 rockers--Which way should i go? Thanks Dwayne

Don't worry, the XE218/224 is still a bigger cam than the Hotcam. Even thought the Hotcam is 218/228, it has lower lift and lazier lobes than the XE218/224(CC502). I'm a little confused by your message. Did you get the 212/218 or the 218/224. Out of those two, I would definately go with the 218/224.

The Hotcam is a great cam. I'm still considering it too because it's easier on the valvetrain than the XE grinds.

To 1995RedZ28, great times man! Most of the guys running very low 12's with that cam get 1.7 or better 60' times. Looks like you are right on track. Just a quick question. When you pop the hood, how loud is the valvetrain compared to stock?
