In Hot Weather (90+), Car Fans Don't Shut Off
So, I have the 160 tstat, reprogramming for fans, and even water wetter.
But when it's really, really hot like it was today (94F, I think), the temp won't hit the low setting, so the fans won't turn off.
The car does what it's supposed to..turn on fans earlier but I noticed that the car never get cool enough for fans to turn off. I don't know what my tuner set the fan on/off temps too, but he does plenty of fbodies in the Bay Area, so I'm not concern it's the temp trigger points. The car never gets over 210 (according to dash guage), but it never drops low enough to turn off the fans either.
My question is if any of your cars run so hot, that in hot weather, it does the same thing. Even at highway speeds (80+), it will cool down a little..may 190 (again, dash gauge), but not enough to turn off the fans.
In cool weather, the car stays nice and cool with the 160tstat and fan reprogramming, so I know the system does what it's supposed to.
But is it possible for the outside temp to be so hot, that our engines just stay hot, or do I just have a really hot running LT1?

Sounds to me like you have a normal running LT1 to me!
Are both fans running all the time??
Remember the thermostat does NOT control the upper temperature of the engine, the rest of your cooling system does.
If you want a cooler running engine you will have to increase the capacity or efficiency of the cooling system.
This may be as simple as cleaning the rad., inside and out. Or replacing the air dam. RK Sports(and others) has a larger air dam. http://www.rksport.com/main/part_det...mdid=1&catid=4
Or as complicated as redesigning the entire system.
But it sounds NORMAL to me.
