Hot !!!!!!!!

I just blew a heater hose which was just repaired. The car starts up and runs with no leaks anywhere but......... the thermometer is hotter than it should be. My dad thinks it's because we put to much water. should I drain everything and put a 50/50 coolant/water mix? If not what should I do? Need help fast!!!!!!

-Daniel

P.S. Thanks again to Phil and Larry for helping me out. It is greatly appreciated. Phil how much do I owe you?

Did you bleed the coolant system using the 2 bleeder screws?

well deifnitely make sure you have a 50/50 split of coolant and water. Coolant has no cooling properties to it, the water is what does the cooling, but since water by itself is corrosive you need the 50% coolant mix. I recommend buying the premixed stuff. that way you can just dump it in worry free. and like ssbowtie1 said make sure you have bled the system, drive the car until its at normal operating temp, with it running, turn one screw until there is a steady stream of coolant comes out then close it. do the same to the other screw. make sure there is a towel under the screw when you open it so you dont kill the precious opti.
