hose on passenger side manifold

the tube that is connected to the top of the passenger side manifold is the AIR tube right? I need to know where I can get a new one because I am getting exhaust smells in the engine bay and at the tailpipes it smells like it is running really rich. is this something I can get at auto zone or checker or can I just replace it with some heater hose? I just wonder if the regular hose will make the near 180 degree bend that this one makes.

My local parts shop will let me hunt through there hose section; you might find a hose that's the right diameter with a 180 bend. If not, call one of the GM sources like Jason Cromer or Dal.

Does it look like the 90-deg bend shown in Shoebox's photo:

If that hose it melted or rotted, and you smell exhaust under the hood, there is a possibility that the check valve is leaking, allowing the exhaust to back up in the system and melt the hose. There should not be any exhaust coming out of that hose.

The hose isn't melted or cracked or anything, just ripped apart somewhere in the middle. It attaches to the valve, but goes toward the rear about 4 inches then snakes 180 degrees to the front and then makes a 90 degree bend downward in about the same area. so is my check valve facing the wrong way if it points to the rear then?

Re: hose on passenger side manifold

I just replace mine 2 days ago for the same reason. My local NAPA parts center was able to match up a hose with a 90 begree angle molded in it. Be aware that the inner diameter of both ends are different.

My hose split open but was not melted. I could hear an exhaust leak coming from the split. I thought the check valve was bad so I replaced that also ($18) but the new one does allow some exhaust to puff through it so I think the old one was OK after all. I put on the new hose and valve and everything is fine.

Re: hose on passenger side manifold

did yours point to the rear as well with a 180 bend to get to the 90 degree downturn?

The photo on Shoebox's website is for a 95. Maybe the 96/97's are different.
