with the right combo 500whp in a m6 is fairly easy.. especially w/ him doing it w/ a small set of afr's..

But meantime this new cam should get me hopefully comfortably over 500, we'll see next weekend.

As for the combo, it's an all Callies forged SR 396 built by LME with custom heads, full suspension, custom tune, full interior (for now). I did pull the AC...am constantly debating whether to pull it or not.
I'm going to beg to ask......What are custom heads?? What kind of intake, TB, cam, headers, etc.?? Did you make 500 on race gas?

I've tried for more than a few years and found it's not that easy in a car set up for daily driving. Keep hearing about them, but for some reason seen very few verifable dyno sheets. AFR 210 heads are OK, there are others out there better. There are no secret or trick 210's that grow magic bean stalks.

Seen this where people give advice on how to make 500 rwhp and say how easy it is, but that's not been my experience. Making 483 rwhp with a set of TFS heads that flowed 304 cfm on a conservative bench flowing 260 cfm @ only .400 with about every other trick you can think of except I run hydraulic cams.

Pretty familiar with dyno tricks of iceing the intake, running mph instead of rpm, race gas with a bunch of timing, removing the rear roters, removing the belt, placement of the dyno rollers, etc. etc. But to just drive up to the dyno, open the hood using pump gas and let loose a 500 rwhp run in a LTx car with standard 23 heads is pretty rare.

Very interested to see dyno sheets. I'm all teeth, eyes n ears if ya got them.

agreed about the AFR 210s, they were a budget purchase head that went on my 355 and 847 cam, engine blew two weeks later, shrugs. After two years of sitting there I decided to go forward. In an effort to save money I had them hand ported by Brian & Pecos @LME, flowing 319, with all the other good parts they are better flowing than out of the box 227s. My plans are now for bigger heads of course, end of the season. There was no race gas or iceing of anything, feel free to talk to Jay @GForce Motorsports, he put PEPE together. As for the dynograph http://www.cardomain.com/ride/327711. Back to heads, RR215s are being considered with full porting and guts like my 210s have.

oh yeah...I drive it to the track 1/2 hr from here ..HRP and take it to work every other day, ac is out for now, debating putting it back in, not sure....probably will leave it out, the Rubicon has AC afterall.

Correct, the old cam was a custom grind, turned out to be a baby cam for my specs, the new cam is also a custom grind, jez a MONSTER cam is all!

You can say what you want to.. but choose the folk's who do your work wisely.. usually it's the deciding factor.. i've seen 452RWHP afr195'd headed cars... and that's on a stock bottom end.. and trust me when i say.. i'm def. not a afr fan in the least...can't stand them... but in the right hands even a set of lt4's can be made to fly...

You know what your talking about man. Have seen the same myself and now I don't care for AFRs per say either, and want some big boy heads and will get them..because I farking said so lol...but I love the fact I made use of what I had on a budget, they turned out to be some beast heads on a good engine. I just hope to crack 10.2 on what I have before I sell these heads, I'd be happy.

That really is quite exceptional as I was once sponsored by a dyno shop and literally seen a 1000 cars dyno not counting all the effort in by myself. Owned a set of AFR 227's and they didn't come close to that much power trying about four different SR cams. Congratulations.

Just bumped up the compression in mine from 12.4 to 12.8 to 1 giving the car a better quench, new springs and getting rid of those $2k stepped headers that were a rip off going back to my old Hookers along with fixing a couple little issues. Let's see what the dyno says but I'm impressed as making 500 rwhp as been pretty illusive.

Well thanks Denny and good luck on your build, as you well know it's all in the right combo and sounds like you're getting there man, good luck with your goals. More importantly FAST 1/4 times ...

I remember when the big mods on this car were a set of Hooker LTs and a Borla The car had 10s in it with the first 396 set up with the old cam, just the suspension tunning wasnt there, it is now and the car is nasty. Its just plain stupid how hard this thing hits
