Hooker Longtubes hitting brake line and causing brake line to leak....
Hooker Longtubes hitting brake line and causing brake line to leak....
Anyone else having this problem? I noticed some smoke coming from the hood today, so I stopped the car and popped the hood and noticed that the single brake cable that goes down the drivers side fender panel on the inside of the engine bay is squeezed between the #1 primary header and the engine bay. It caused it to leak somehow and now the fluid is burning due to the hot heat from the headers. I cant get any header wrap around them.... Any ideas? Is this the main line to our cars breaking system?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I had to move mine when the hookers went in.
Not trying to sound like an *** but if you had taken the time to do this right when they were installed you wouldn't be having a leaking brake line while driving situation.
If someone else did the install then I would give them a sharp pinch.

You have to move the brake line, I don't know if it is possible but I hope the 1000+degree heat that can come from the header didn't burn a hole in your brake line or rais the pressure in the line so much that it cracked! Good luck!

I had to move my brake line out of the way with the Hooker long tubes. Pretty sorry design in my opinion but that's how it is. Apparently you have already removed the heat shield that covers the lines, now all you have to do is grab the line and bend it out of the way.
Get it checked out thoroughly before you drive it any more.

I melted mine at the track and realized halfway home on the highway that I had no brakes.
Was interesting learning to softly brake with the E-brake.
Bend the brake cable away from the header. If its a tight bend, use a large socket to bend it over.

This is my daily driven car for right now so I think I will try and fix the problem this weekend. I know what can happen.... Insurance is a wonderful thing. I was just curious if this was a common problem with hookers headers. I have a friend of mine going to install some hookers soon so I will let him know he should move his brake line first.
