Hooker Headers..

Please don't tell me that other headers are this difficult in general...

Last year I installed these headers and man was it a b*tch. Now after coming out of storage I see I have two primaries leaking on the passenger side.. The rear and front, and also a header bolt had backed out so far it has disappeared... What are the best header bolts, because I don't want to have to grind all my 7/16th sockets so I can fix this.

God these headers are a PAIN!... I can't even reach the last bolt on the back primary.. Sorry I needed to vent..

People have had good results with the 1" ARPs and the Stage 8 locking bolts. The Stage 8s will run around 50-55 bucks for the set though.

I agree with you that these headers are the biggest pain in the *** I had ever come across and still have the scars to prove it. Even with a hoist I had trouble. I used a short wrench to do it.

I've used the stainless 12-point ARP's on 3 different 4-gens and have never had an issue with them backing out or access, even on a set of stepped Kook's. I think I ordered them through Summit Racing the first time, and through Thunder Racing all orders afterwards.

They are pretty short, so in the event your flanges are really thick, install the middle primaries without the included washers, and you should have no problems.
