Hooker Catback Installation: Do it yourself?
Hooker Catback Installation: Do it yourself?
I'm picking up my Hooker Catback System today, and my question to those that have done the install themselves, is it relatively easy? Or should I just pay to have it installed? Thanks, Erik
What system is on the back now? Stock? If so you should easily be able to do it yourself. I did my own Borla system about a year ago but then I got LTs and a custom y-pipe. So when I went to change in the Hooker, the y-pipe was a little too long and I ended up having a shop do it for $100 including modding the y-pipe a little. So if you're running the stock cat-back and/or y-pipe, you could do it yourself in about 2-3 hours.
Do it yourself. Just remember to borrow a tailpipe cutter from the local autoparts store before you start the install. If you're doing it in your driveway, you'll need to cut the factory exhaust to get it out.
You won't get the stock exhaust out in 1 piece without dropping the rear end.....so it's either cut it in pieces or drop the rear end. Took me about 20 minutes to get the stock exhaust off and about a half hour to install the catback and position the tips etc.
very simple.....
