a stock rebuild?
are you doing any of the labor yourself
(pulling the motor, assembly, etc)
if you take it to a shop and let them do all the labor, probably 2-3 grand....

might as well stroke it

Wow, you're gonna spend 200k on an engine rebuild?

Just kidding. It all depends on how crazy you wanna get with the engine. A stock rebuild can probably be done for less than $1500. If you decide to get crazy like the rest of us, then the sky's the limit. For instance, my car has 77k miles and I'm already building a killer stroker motor with a big nasty turbo to feed it cause the supercharger isn't cutting it anymore.

If you are pulling and replacing the motor yourself, it shouldn't be bad at all. Should be less than $1500 assembled, maybe $750 if you do the assembly yourself. All you really need to do is get new rings and bearings. No need to replace pistons, rods, crank, etc. No need to rebalance if you keep your parts straight. A friend of mine and I did this in my garage. Well under $1000 and the motor has been working great for a couple years and is pulling 11s at the strip.
