Hooker is a lot tamer than tha LM1. I had the LM1 and after my headers it was way too loud so I switched. Hooker it still plenty loud though for my liking and it does have a nice tone. I have been really happy with it for over a year and a half but I want it quieter now so I am adding cats.

My Hooker is obnoxiously loud. It is loud at idle, part throttle, and WOT. I don't know if the cat and headers really make it worse, but damn! I added a Car Chemistry header muffler and it did little to lessen the noise. I have been harrassed by the police, and I could not get an inspection sticker last year until I swapped the muffler for a stock replacement (temporarily, of course). It has a deep rumble at idle, and people turn around when I start the car in pulblic. My neighbors hate the noise, and frankly, it can be embarrassing at times. I just want to caution you: If you have other exhaust mods and a raised idle, you could find the Hooker to be a poor alternative.

That's highly unusual for the Hoker catback. Have you chacked to make sure you don't have an exaust leak? Maybe at the spot where the pipe goes over the rear axle, or somewhere else upstream from the muffler? Mine was a little loud inside the car and found out that the top of the exhaust pipe was hitting my sheet metal where it goes over the rear axle. A little adjustment and it's better. Makre sure none of your exhaust is touching, other than at the exhaust hanging points.

Mine is quiet at idle, and I have headers and a bullet muffler in place of the cat. It was even quieter when I had the high flow cat in there. (I can switch between the cat and the bullet muffler since easily since they bolt right in) It is a good deal louder than stock though when accelerating.

I wish I did have an exhaust leak! I even added RTV copper around the joint near the axle to ensure a seal. Everything is tight and properly mounted. I have a Random Tech cat and AS&M headers with a mild cam, and the before and after those mods was striking in terms of exhaust noise. I don't know what else to say. The Hooker is nice, but for me it has presented definite problems.

OK..thanks for all the info guys...like i said esp to agent Z..if you think its loud now..put on an SLP LM1 with long tubes no cats and a huge cam...it sucks at idle...my neighbors HATE it..im mainly just looking to tame it at idle..right now I can drive by a cop at idle and for the most part get away with it..so if its noticably quieter..ill be fine with the new one. Ill never everyone know how it goes.

Hooker & GMMG are great exhaust for a nice idle, but still giving you what you'd want at WOT.

Re: Hooker catback ALOT quieter than SLP LM1?

in my 383 I went from mac mids & ypipe, carsound cat, and SLP loudmouth to pacesetter LTs & ORY, and hooker catback. the difference was amazing. it wasnt too loud at idle, it had a great sound to it. not noisy or obnoctious. interior noise quieted down ALOT (of course I was running open headers for a few weeks so maybe it was just going from that to actually having a catback.) giving it throttle it sounded great. WOT sounded excellent. I raced several cars and they all said my car sounded absolutely badass.

if you have a cam installed you will hear the lope. it wont be as pronounced like the loudmouth but you will hear it.

I am very happy with the hooker catback.

edit: the videos in my sig are with open headers, I can't get video of my current setup because I damaged my engine

Good..gettin more and more excited to get this on...to tell you the truth..I already took the SLP off and now im running open Ypipe..cam sounds like a MONSTER...hopefully you wont be able to notice as much with the hooker..i know the SLP killed the cam..made it sound small..compared to what it does now.
