hooker cat back of flowmaster american thunder catback??
Okay guys and gals, i have been thinking over and over again and debating on which catback exhaust to get. i just dont know which one. i have searched threads and have read both a little bit about the flowmaster and hooker cat back exhaust systems. okay heres the deal. i am looking to spend three hundered or so the most on my catback, so in other words, borla corsa gmmg is out of the question. originally i have said i was going to purchase the american thunder exhaust. but after i did some research, a lot of you guys say its a pos and it sounds like **** and doesnt flow well for performance. well i like the flowmaster because i have heard it and it sounds good but the performance gains im not exaclty sure about. the hooker i have not heard yet. i need to hear it to help me decide. i can get both these exhaust systems from jegs. the flowmaster for 266.99 and the hooker for 255.99 i htink. somewhere aroudn there. is there any place cheaper?? i have looked!! okay anyways now here is what i am lookking for in my cat back. i want good piping (i know its not stainless steel like borla) i want a good flowing exhaust for excellent performance gains. and the sound, i have to have a loud and deep growl from the exhaust. i dont want a raspy one by not means or a popping exhaust like a truck. i want a deep growl thats loud. i think the flowmaster is pretty loud and i love the sound. but like i said i cant compare because i havent heard the hooker yet. there is a thread that is about the hooker vs. borla and people have said that hooker is pos in the winter and rusts fast. i think one guy said it only lasted a year. i cant have that, i need it to last longer than that
my stepdad has the flowmaster and it has lasted him 6 years, but he doesnt drive his much during the winter, he doesnt drive it much at all though. also someone said that the performance gains from the hooker and borla are about the same. thats good because i want the performance and good sound from my exhaust. i need ur guys opinions to help me choose!! what would you all do. do any of you have these exhausts or other ones that might be good. i want to know from personal experience so it will help me decide which one to get. i will be ordering the system very soon thanks everyone!

i think it sounds alright. I used to have it, but i sold it because it rattled a lot. Overall i think they are poorly designed, and they will rust. I got the SLP loudmouth and second gear goes about 7 mph further than it did with the flowmaster. The loudmouth is pretty cheap too...whatever you do, if you are looking for best performance, dont go with flowmaster...although they do sounds good.
what do you mean by it rattled a lot, popped or the whole exhaust system rattled?? was it not installed correctly? did ur catback rust? how long did it take for it to rust?? how much did you buy ur loudmouth for? i thought that was a raspy sound? thanks
so you say u wanna hear what the hooker catback sounds like, well turn your speakers all the way up and make your decision...just click here its the last clip http://www.geocities.com/camarosound...enexhaust.html
I've had both of them. I have the hooker on the car now since the flowmaster pops alot if you rev at idle. They both sound great, although the flowmaster was a little louder. I just got the hooker on a little over a week ago and its starting to get louder as I drive more. Personally, I think the Hooker gave me a little more power than the Flowmaster. Just my .02
chevy boy thanks a lot man. i think im going to go with the hooker
what you all think? trans am- so you htink the flowmaster was louder? i know they are both loud but i think the hooker is a tad bitts louder. also you say it added a little more power, how much is alittle bit? eye you- i also plan on getting a flowtech cutout also to give me even louder sound and more hp but i also have to have an awesome souding and looking exhaust to top it all off!

I have a flowmaster single on mine with mac headers and before the headers were put on it was not poppy at all. I chose to go with the single pipe setup because our cars are dummy duals anyways and it also makes the car look like a sleeper. I can tell you that the single pipe is a little less loud then dual and does not pop at idle at all, only after the headers. I heard a hooker but the guy knocked his cat out so it was annoyingly loud! The flowmaster is a deep tone compared to hookers high pitch. To each his own and you have to look at the total package i.e what your plans for the car are going to be. If IMO I am going with the LM because I love the way it sounds. My flowmaster makes my car sound like a friggen mustang!! The loudmouth makes your camaro sound like a real muscle car but beware that once you put it on, people are going to challenge you since it sounds badass!!
