Hooked up MSD 6AL and now i have problems...

I hooked everything up like it said, along with the timing retard box and now my car idles VERY low and is hesitating to build up rpms, and then around 2k it all jumps with full power sticking me in my seat when i half to give it half throttle to go.

I also have the wire harness.

Is there anything that i could of done wrong. I even called MSD and they told me how to hook eeverything up and to also splice one of the wires from the digital window switch box into one of the wires from the 6AL..

But i was going to call them back, but they closed now.

Please help asap...

could be, or your opti could be on the way out and the voltage from the box is screwing with it

I'd be willing to bet you have something funky with the retard box. can you try the MSD w/o the retard box hooked up?

i have a Dyna spark and its only like 2 1/2 years old.

Well i just bought the timing retard box today from the performance shop near my house.

You think it would cause hesitation off the line?

I guess i can try and see whats up, and if not?

Ok bypassed the Timing Retard box and THAT was the problem.

I hooked it up from what MSD tech said.

From Retard - YELLOW-WHITE on the 6AL and WHITE-WHITE (on harness)

This sound right?

Is it the #8680 retard box?

On the MSD timing retard box, you have to set it to "15" to get the stock timing. If you set it to "0" you are retarding the timing 15deg.

Doesn't make any sense the way MSD set it up, but that's what the instructions on the MSD website call for.

You also have to make sure you didn't cut any of the loops that are used to convert it to 4 or 6 cylinders.

Here's the link to the online instructions:

So how would i go about advacing timing for nitrous?

yep i got this one 17-8680 MSD Adjustable Timing Control

The only wires i cut was the yellow and white wire from the retard box to extend them so i could place the box in my glove box.

awww.....I see now. So start out with 15* then drop down till pinging stops?

What does pinging sound like and i will also have to pull or adanvced 4* of timing for the 200 shot?

is it 2* every 100 or 2* every 50?

They way i've always understood it, it's 2-3 degrees per 50 shot but only after an initial 150 shot. I thought it was from the get go and i retarded my timing with a 150 shot and it backfired and caught on fire at qualcom. I was even on the news. That was about 6 years ago but i took the timing retard out and it ran perfect with the 150 shot.
