Home Plate Delete???
Home Plate Delete???
I've just found out that my CAI has been hit with a good ole "Punk N Pipe" mod. Not too sure what that means exactly but someone has told me that it means I have a home plate delete. Most of those are done on B body cars tho, so does that mean my engine is from a b-body? I know they're still lt1s but do I want a lt1 for my Camaro from an impala or caprice? Does that matter? Does this effect my decisions on how I decide to mod the engine? I have pics of what I'm talking about on my profile in the pictures.. Whats the difference between a b body lt1 and f body lt1? What should I do? Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....

Not sure about the home plate but you can read this article and it explains the difference in the lt1.

First thing I would suggest is that you add a "Signature" with the basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans type and any major mods (if none, or basically stock, state so). Left click on "UserCP" on the red bar at the top of every page. On the drop down, left click on "Edit Signature". Type the info in the field that appears, and "save". An example of a signature is everything below the short, thin horizontal line at the bottom of this post.
I know from your other posts that you have a 95 Z28 A4.
"Home plate" refers to modifiying the air intake silencer on a B-Body LT1 or L99. See this video:

Has nothing to do with the intake on an F-Body (Camaro/Firebird). And it's part of the intake duct that is peculiar to the B-Body. Does not mean your engine is from a B-Body. Does your rubber intake elbow have the round hole on the top?
The LT1 "silencer" is a long black pipe that hangs down from the rubber intake elbow. See part 22 in this diagram:

To determine if you have a B-Body engine, check the heads. B-Bodies have cast iron heads, F-Bodies have aluminum heads.

Re: Home Plate Delete???
Yea thanks for the info.. The signature isn't done because I don't really know what I have in the car yet I pretty much just bought the car didn't really ask the guy what all he had put in it.. Which is why I've been asking questions haven't got much help tho it's like people look at the post but no one really gives any advice except you tho I can say you've been some help especially when I asked about the suspension... I asked more about upgrades at first but I've been doing research and most people say the head plate usually comes on a caprice or impala etc, and also I've been reading about this "baby" lt1.. I'd hate to find out that I've spent 3k on a damn 4.3 lt v8 I think it is instead of a 5.7.. Anymore pointers you can offer?

Re: Home Plate Delete???
The LT1 block actually has "327" cast in the front on the block toward the driver's side, below the water pump. The L99 block says "4.3" on the side.
Re: Home Plate Delete???
On the head is it just a '327' because mine says 'G12'(I think) above and '327' below that but this is on the block behind the water pump... So I'm not sure if its supposed to have more digits or just 327
