Hrm, really? When I topped out my car the PCM read 255km/h. I figured that was just the max speed. Is there actually a speed limiter set at that high of a speed? I do have an AKM cable is there any way I could check to see if I have a speed limiter?

Couple of things:

There is NO 135 limiter on the 93's. If you got Z-Rated tires from the factory you had no limiter. If you got the H or whatever tires, it was 115.

Bryan doesn't do tuning for 93's. He does 94+. The other guy who's a part of Pcmforless is Alvin, and he's the man on these 93's. And yes, a chip will be able to be set up with no limiter, certain diagnostic codes turned off, and multiple other things.

If your car was cutting in and out at 135, what did it feel like???

OK I dont remember what tires my mother had stock so I am not sure about that part. I thought that the 4l60 was a similar transmission to the 700r4 and the LE model was the one with the electic mess of wires that went in and it supposedly learned how you liked to shift. I could be wrong though. When it cuts out it feels just like a rev limiter but I dont believe I was turning her that hard. I always listen to my motor at that speed I love the sound anyway LOL It felt like every other car I have been in that had a speed limiter hit a wall at 135 motor cut out slowed down picked back up again to 135 feels like you let off the gas for a second then it goes again

I wonder if the pcm itself reads up to 255km/hr. After all, why would it read much more than the speedo? If your car is stock, that would be pretty close to its top speed.

All the 4L60 is, is a 700R4 with better parts and a 5 wire plug. Its alot stronger than the infamous weak 700R4. You can take a 4L60 (not E version) repin it and drop it into a 92 and earlier camaro.

A lot of aftermarket tuners like PCMFORLESS set the speed limiter at 255 mph. Yes, mph. That's the max value the PCM can read in mph. Cars that came from the factory with Z-rated tires also have the speed limiter set at 255 mph. That essentially means that the car has a drag limited top speed up to 255 mph.

BTW, 255kmh / 1.6 km / 1 mph = 159.375 mph
