Holy crap 135 MPH

I thought the 93 Z28 did not have the chip to keep it under 135 MPH last night I was tooling down the interstate and sure enough 135 and it cut out and in. Would not go faster. Will the PCMFORLESS chip remove the restiction is there a way to do this easily at home? Why would cheverolet do this to me LOL? If it is not restricted is it possible that my fuel filter needs to be changed? the only Mod done so far is a K&N CAI kit.

ronald, again ---- you have questions i have answers.

i was going to suggest to you when we were on the phone to have pcmforless.com do your setup. Bryan Herter who is the owner of this "company" is an awesome guy and lives 10 minutes down the road from me in PA. When he does my car, he does it in person right off of his computer.

He can do anything you want. and yes, even remove the rev/top speed limiter. youll be able to get past 135 with no problems then. i was just on the phone with him the other day inquiring about a re-re-tune for myself lol.

oh also, those rockers i told you about are gmpp 1.6. they are the same as crane gold's just made for GM. again, quality pieces with only like 15k on them.

you would have to go to pcmforless website and ask them what it does im pretty sure they can do anything you want. and it is definatly a speed limiter if it cuts in and out. if it was a clogged fuel filter then it would be doing the same thing in every gear at that same rpm

What rpms were you at?

135 is pretty close to 3rd gear redline for 3.23 autos.
Are you sure it shifted into fourth? I've heard of people having to let off the gas a little to get it to shift to fourth, the od gears in the 4l60/4l60e autos aren't that strong.

Both of the stock 93 programs I have seen had the limiters set at 255 mph. I have never heard of a limiter at 135.

The convertible version has a speed limiter, but the coupe should not.

I think you mean 255 kilometers per hour, not miles per hour!

i wasnt aware their were convertibles produced in 1993.

the cars with a speed limiter had the base tires
you had to get the optional tires to have the factory limiter removed from the base program

Mine is a 93 and I think from what I have read it has a 700R4 trans not the LE. I am not sure what RPMs I was at but I have 2.73 gears in 3rd I should be able to do more than that before redline I was busy watchn the road though LOL and didnt notice RPMs. Hey Brian those rockers sound like what I am looking for let me know if the price is what you quoted maybe I can send whole thing to you and you pay your buddy?

did you install that trans (700r4)? b/c stock trannies on 93s are teh 4L60's . In 94 they switched to 4L60-E trans.

also like chopstix said,if the car wasnt ordered with z rated tires (150mph+) then a speed limiter was placed on them. however i thought if they werent ordered with z rated, then the speedo only went to 120mph , i have seen that a few times on z28's on the net before.

the gm dealer put his scanner on mine and told me its limited to 118mph. I told him is scanner is lying to him, and he claims the retired old man who owned it before me must have disabled the limiter. It came with z-rated tires and only those with h-rated ones had limiters.

Mine is an a4 with 3.23, but it shifts at 125mph (200km/hr) from 3 to 4, that is right around 6000rpm. I dont know how you guys get 135mph, are you guys holding the gear in 3rd?

If everything is set up properly, you should not have to ease up on the gas to shift. WHen i had spark plug problems, i would lose a lot of power at high rpm and the car would not shift becuse it was sort of stuck at that speed. As soon as plugs, wires, and distributer were fixed (and a bunch of boltons were done), i never had to ease on the gas to make the car shift.
