Re: Holley versus ASM 58mm TB

The flow rate is governed primarily by the diameter of the throttle bores. Smoothness of the bores, diameter and thickness of the shaft and blades, taper or "airfoil" affect in the bores will make some very minor differences, but "flow rate" should basically be the same.

And, a flow rating it meaningless, unless they also tell you the pressure loss at which they measured the flow.

i was curious if the design or quality of the product would differ in the cfm ratings, since ASM was a bit more expensive.

AS&M is always going to be more expensive than Holley, whether your talking about a set of Hooker Supercomp LT's v. AS&M LT's, or throttle bodies or anything else.

Unless you are building a max effort race engine I doubt that the Throttle body is going to make a difference, not noticable anyway.

I had a holley on my last LT1 and it was rated at 1000 cfm, i think the rod in the asm is thinner, I believe that is the only difference.

Holley looks like a quality piece and is one, I haven't had problems with their blades as many state, you just have to find a sweet spot I guess, if you notice yours binding just turn the idle screw open a bit so that you don't hit the bind spot, but I mean honestly no probs here, and it's the best looking one IMHO
