Holley TB worth The $$ on a ported Intake?

I just got a real nice lookin 58mm ported Intake, i dont have a 58mm TB yet and i was lookin at the Holleys, They are real expensive though so im wondering if its worth it. It does look good but will it give me and HP gains at all? Hows teh BBK TB compared to the Holley ?

I have a Holley 58mm TB.... not very happy with the quality (and I bought it back when it was only $350). There was an excessive space between the blades and the body, and the throttle stop lever was not fixed firmly to the cable quadrent, altering the return point. I fixed it with a lot of work, and it seems better now, but for the $$$$ you shouldn't have to fix it.

I temporarily used a borrowed BBK 58mm while I was working on the Holley, and it was fine. I don't remember it lacking an air foil... in fact it was the TB George Baxter used on his 9.04@155mph pass, so I know it was "good".

The shop that does my work recommends the Accel/LPE unit.... but its even more expensive than the Holley.

I had two different Holley TB and they do look great, and neither one of mine stuck. The only problem I had was the throttle cable didnt fit into the little hole at all. The hole was too big and the weight on the end of the throttle cable would just wobble and actually started fraying the cable. Since my motor is down for some upgrades I sold the Holley and bought a BBK. I have a friend that has one on his and it works great so this is why I went with the BBK.

Save your $300-you don't need a 58mm-I went from a 52mm BBK to a 58mm Holley-a waste of money-I wouldn't go bigger than 52mm unless you are going to stroke or SC it.

agreed......unless youre putting down 450+ at the wheels..........a 58 probably isnt necessary.

Definitely... .with my setup (381ci, 7,200rpm solid roller, 500HP) the TB supplies enough air at only 77% open, right from the engine dyno testing. Open the TB any further, and the air flow does not increase. Could have got by with a 52mm, if I was only looking at the NA data.

Just had the new engine built. Originally had the holley installed, and the builder went to the bbk. Apparently an issue with blades not closing or opening to a full position. I would recommend bbk.

I had the exact experience, I bought a BBK for my 93 and I had to do some serious rigging to get it to work, first off the throttle would only open up halfway and the TPS would not adjust right unless I almost turned it 45 degrees from its bolted down position, the instructions said "slight " TPS adjustment may be needed but 45 degrees???!!!?? I even went and bought a new one and zeroed the computer and still it needed major adj. The Throttle cable as I said befor needed shortening and the casting shift was very bad. I bought a Holly and it worked like a charm!
