This happens 1 out of 10 times.

I can unlock fine, and open the passenger door and the door lock doesn't activate at all when I use the switch.

The driver's side one DOES work. Once I use the driver's side lock button, the passenger side one starts working fine.

The PS lock button has been replaced.

Any ideas?

Take it apart and I bet there will be black gunk on the contacts for the buttons. Use a qtip with some rubbing alcohol and clean them off.

 

Thought of that.

 

Mine has been acting pretty stupid lately, too. Sometimes I can only unlock the driver's door and not the passenger, then I can't lock anything. Hatch release always works. I am about convinced it is the receiver going bad, because at night, I can tell it is receiving the signal from the key fob because I see the interior lights come on-but no lock or unlock function. The buttons on both doors work fine for lock and unlock.

 

Whenever this odd stuff happens, 9 times out of 10 the hatch relay release will "click" but the hatch doesn't open. The click is from under the dash.



Ahh well... the motor still starts...
