Hmm, what do you think?

So I've had my '94 Z28 for a month now, and finally put her to the boards today. It's got 174,000 miles on it, with a cold air and a cutout, and it's an automatic.

Put it to the floor at 45 mph, and on dry tar I was spinning hard for a couple seconds before she grabbed. Goodyear Eagle Hp's with 500 miles on them. Now I don't know an awful lot about Camaro's yet, but does this seem normal for the mods I mentioned?

Lots of things besides just power come into play here, Air/road temps. Tire pressure, how long you'd been driving on them before dropping the hammer etc. So just spinning tires like that really doesn't validate any kind of power, but if I had to say, your car sounds potent to me. My car hooks and goes at 45 but im a 6 speed in 2nd gear around those speeds.

I had a stock 85 IROC Z28 that would spin all the way through 1st & 2nd gear under certain conditions. That beast was probably putting down 180-190 HP.

I guess it just comes as a surprise to me. I really didn't know these things have the ***** they do. I wasn't just spinning the tires, I was rolling them and bouncing off the limiter at the same time. Finally grabbed when I shifted but damn...

Mine is stupid to drive if the roads are cold or damp (thats kinda a given though) and I still see some people driving them in the winter here in wisconsin I took mine out about a month ago when it was about 50* and the roads were clean and it wouldn't hook at 35, I didn't try any faster and that was before any of my mods. Stock intake with leaking elbow and restrictive catback

Gotta love the power these thing put down, even after 175,000 miles

I hear man, I hear ya. Camaro's are the best cars for the $. I paid $3,500 for my stock Z28, and there's ricers around here with more money in mods than what I payed for my car and they still can't touch me.

Motor Trend did a bang for the buck article back in 94 and the z28 won the test going away and i dropped 5-6 th,s off e.t for under $1,000 and again this in CDN where things are quite more expensive!

normal for 175/60 series bald snow tires, yes.

Losing traction is the easy part...getting things to hook is what most are in constant search for.

Soon as you get a few more ponies, you'll understand the real bragging rights lie with those who are able to plant their car and run away from you...

Yep, get 'em to hook and away ya go No fun to spin 'em, get's spendy for tires... I can get my '96 to spin 'em in 2nd pretty easily but the tires i got, it really likes to hook hard in 2nd too. 1st is usually all spin unless i try to launch it right.~Cole~
