Hitting the rev limiter

Is it bad to hit the rev limiter every now and then? What could it possibly damage? I have a 93 Z28 Camaro (auto) so yes putting it in neutral and revving it up...

Thanks

Well it's not going do anything good by hitting the rev limit

I spun a bearing hitting the rev limiter, I think that says enough.

if you're goin to hit the rev limiter make sure you're at least getting the thrill of the crazy 1-2 shift.

Don't do something like free revving to the point of hitting the limiter.

At this point I guess you can go two ways....

1.) Post a thread saying "Hey I just blew my motor bouncing off the rev limiter while walking a mustang."

Or

2.) Post a thread saying "Hey I just blew my motor bouncing off the rev limiter cause it was cool."

The rev limiter in our motors works by cutting fuel. If you were running nitrous or boost, you would create a dangerous lean condition. This could potentially destroy your motor. Only saying it FYI.

Besides why would you want to put that kind of stress on the motor for no real good reason?

I guess those are all good reasons...I was just curious on what could happen...

Thanks!

you dont need to run nitrous or boost to hurt the motor by running lean.the way the lt-1's rev limiter works could possably be chevy's only mistake.

Free reving the motor to the rev limiter is extreemly stupid and hard on the bottom end and topend of the motor.
