Hitting rev limiter with 2800 stall!!!

I just installed a Midwest 2800 stall and 1-2 shift I'm hitting the rev limiter. I'm running street tires(pretty bald ones) and spinning VERY VERY badly, would this cause me to hit it?

I'm going to get better tires(DRs). Should this problem go away when I stop spinning so bad?

Thanks!

you have the OBDI problem-
call bryan at pcmforless
you have a 7/10 chance that he can fix it
if not- OBII changeove or hello 2400 stall

Could this just be caused by the tires spinning so fast? Any other input?

94_formula is right. OBDI doesn't react well to stalls around or over 2800, and won't shift to second at WOT. Bryan has developed a sure-fire fix for the problem. Give him a shout at http://www.pcmforless.com

He may or may not have the problem. he metioned nothing about going limp after it did this?

I have seen on less effecent converters where they just Slip to much at WOT and can not reach the desired MPH for the shift due to Slip.

If he is spinning bad it is not un-common to bang the rev limiter ;0 i do almost every time I do a burn out in the box. I have been training myself to focus more on it

Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys, I'll just have to wait until I get tires to see if that helps.

How much is the computer fix?

I have a 3200 stall from Midwest and programming from Bryan (OBD1 swap) and haven't run into any of the infamous OBD1/high stall problems.

I don't remember. Check www.pcmforless.com and there's a pricing sheet on the site somewhere.

It's not expensive and Bryan is a great guy to work with.
