ok this prob started out very small but now is a regular thing. My car under full load (pedal to the floor) hits redline and then bogs. SHe sucks back makes a rat at tat noise and then gets over it and moves along. i have noticed some black smoke not a lot but at night when my brother caused her to do it i saw it. WHAT THE HELL is causing this. I cant enjoy her like i used to. there is a SLIGHT mis at idle but nothing big. Other thans that the car runs great. Is this the opti causing this????......in my mind its something to do with that i wanna get the plugs changed this summer. The cat has been punched out when the car failed to go over 20 mph one night and that fixed that straight away. I had hoped it would have changed the other prob but it didnt........i really hope this explains my prob to which someone can help me ..thanks

 

Any chance you're just hitting the factory rev limiter?

 

RealDeal has a good point, realize that your tach could be off a touch and not showing true rpms.

and from what i've seen, low rpm misses and stumbles are typically the opti. high rpm problems are the ignition, like coil, that can't keep up with the demand.

you aren't getting any SES lights?

 

cant be the limiter it hasnt done it up and till a few months ago .....to me it seems as if she is struggling .....my coil went on my camaro which was a v6 and damn did it make it run bad ...so maybe a good thing look into ...no ses lights ....this a 95 ta with 72000 miles on it ....plus there is smoke coming out of the exhaust ...nto a gross amount but enough
