Just turned 110,000 and taking it to the track on the 3rd, still pulls hard as new.

Okay, so here's a question:

Would you say the LT1 is more durable than the LS1? I know this may be difficult to answer since the LS1 has not been around as long. I've heard some horror stories about the LS1 rotating assembly...

Only LS1s run in the 13s.

The LT1 isnt as powerful as the LS1 stock but I think it's a more durable engine. Especially with a M6 in each. I was running mine at the track when it was bolt on's only runnin low 13's one day I shifted out of 3rd at 6K and hit 2nd instead of 4th, dont ask me how. I'm not exactly sure how high it reved but I would estimate it must have hit 7K, it was screaming. And that was mechanically over reving it, the rev limiter didnt stop it.

Stopped the car after that run, looked over the motor, expecting at the least some bent pushrods, valves, maybe a spun bearing, thrown connecting rod, god knows what. Nothing. Nothing wrong with the motor whatsover, started up and ran fine and has run perfect since. That was about 15k miles ago, it's at 60k now and its still running incredible, and it gets beat on very hard whenever I take it out. Overrev a stock LS1 like that and your in for some major trouble from what I hear (they are very likely to bend valves/pushrods)

you sir, need to learn how to use quotes. Therefore, I will teach you. Look towards the bottom right of this window that this text is in. You will see 2 buttons. One says "Edit" and one says "Quote".

All you have to do is click the quote button that is located to the bottom right of the reply that you are referencing. Its that easy. If you need a pic let me know and I will see what I can do

Scooby Its all red w/ black hard-top. All this talk about how beast LT1 engines are sure makes me happy I got one!

I've driven 5spds before and I'm usually comfortable driving them anywhere. On the Z28 I don't know what's "normal" RPM for cruisin/changing gears in city drivin. Does 1900RPM sound a little low for cruisin? Doesn't feel "weak" at all to me... ................................... did I mention my previous car is a 97 Accord? lol

130,000 here with some ticking, heres a stupid story for you i was turning around after racing my friends mustang, I had the car floored and thinking the car was in first gear i shifted to second not knowing that i was in over drive so instead the car went into netrual and i was still floored. and i heard they engine rev higger then ever before looking back seeing all the black smoke i thought i blew my motor but everything was okay, because the rev limiter kept it from getting out of hand

I would say the LT1 is much stronger, but as said earlier the ls1 faster. Either way I think many ls1's will go 200k, but more lt1's will be making great power at 200k while ls1's might be losing a few. Either way my ls1 c5 runs awesome (check sig). It now has 101,600 on it, and gets 29.5-30mpg (450-470 highway out of a 17 gallon tank). I will also say that the lt1's use less oil than ls1's, although with my mileage I only use a quart every 3k which is good for an ls1.

could it be that the lt1 are cast iron blocks and the ls1 has an aluminum block be a major factor in durability....my car only has 69k but it still runs likenew
