high rpm miss when hot help
i have a 1993 camaro z28 6 speed. the car has a weird miss but only when hot. if i turn the fans on and cool it down for like 30 seconds it wont do it. when the rpms climb (4000) it will miss then go miss then go miss the go. its really weird only does it when its hot other then that the car runs great however somtimes its hard to start. its definetly spark the fuel is all good. im leaning towards opti as the car has 122,000 miles on the stock opti,or a clogged cat ? i dont know im about to give up. the coil is also new. please help it getin annoying also noticed theat the inner part of my passenger side exhaust manifold gets a little red??is there at all any possibitiy it could be a sticking valve?help
Fuel is good???? How do ya know? When was the last time you cleaned (I'm not talking about the crap you dump in the tank) I mean really cleaned the injectors.
Buy the latest Hot Rod and look at page 58. There they explain what I been preaching for some time. BTW, they explain that do to heat, the fuel INSIDE the injector is cooked and deposits build up over time. Causing injectors to spray erroneous patterns. We have all been told the "drop" of fuel on the end of the injector is where the build up occurs.
If you are running slightly lean BTW this could cause the glowing that your seeing in the manifold. Obviously since your distributor is 122k miles old it needs changing. The cap and rotor are unmistakebly shot. The bearing is ready to go anytime now. A good tune up is highly in order. But don't forget the injectors. After reading that article I'm convinced that every so often the injectors should be ultrasonicly cleaned. For now see a pro and have them cleaned through the rail with something like the 3M cleaner I use. Then do your tune up.
BTW while you look at the article, notice the pencil like spray pattern the OEMs put out compared with the wide spray that most aftermarkets put out.

Does it feel like it "falls on its face" ie MISS HARD
or
Does it feel like it"RUNS OUT OF STEAM" ie Just kind of great weak
THe reason I ask is on a recent dyno run of mine it was doing something similar. It fell on its face.
. It turned out to be the Opti. It felt rough. No when my fuel pump was going, On the dyno it slowley ran out of steam up top ( fuel pump couldn't keep the pressure up). Test the opti 1st
