High idle..any ideas?
High idle..any ideas?
I just finished w/ the XE 218/224 113, Lloyd Elliot P&P heads, CSI pump, vented opti, CM double roller chain and gears, Jet Hot LTs, MSD coil, Taylor OVC wires, NGk TR55s, 1.6 ProMag RRs, PCMforless chip. I'm having a problem w/ the idle. It seems to want to stay around 1800+/-. Every once in a while if I blip (is that even a word?) the throttle it will drop down to 850+/-. It will stay there until I put it in gear or rev the rpms again. When I do that it then returns right back to 1800+/-.
Does anyone have an idea what to try first? After all of these mods, and the unexpected PIAs I have encountered, my brain and patience are both gone so any ideas would be helpful at this point.
Thanks

do you have a aftermarket Throttle body? i have the BBK and mine kept gettting stuck just barley open enought to make it idle higher so i took it off, loosened the 4 screwes that hold the butterfly valves open and tightened them up where they were more in the center...cured my prob, but this may not be your cause though. I dont think it would be a vacuum leak because i think it would be idling high all the time, even after you blip the throttle. Does it idle high EVERY time you put it into gear? if so, might be the programming you got.

I don't think it's going to be a leak since it will correct itslef it I paly w/ the throttle. I'm going to try some WD-40 right now nad see if that does it. If that doesn't work I will try other things. I coated the TB and the more I think about it that may be the reason. I tore the TB apart before I coated it and maybe it'll just take some lub, hopefully.
Thanks for the ideas.
