Question High Idle (2k rpm), Trans dosen't want to shift

I posted this in the drivetrain section yesterday, but haven't received a response so I thought I would copy and paste in this section hoping that maybe someone has experienced this problem before.

First of all, I want to say great site. I found a lot of informative information to help me with my first Camaro. I currently own three Mustangs and my 95 Camaro which I am very impressed with. I bought the car as a repo for a price that I could not turn down. So far it’s been a great car. Now for my problem, I adjusted my valves this past Sunday with out any problems. The car ran smoother than it has so far. After letting the car sit for an hour or so, I decided to clean under my hood compartment making sure not to get the opti to wet. Now when I crank my car, it idles at 2,000 rpm’s and doesn’t want to shift out of first without letting off the gas for a couple of seconds at about 3k rpm’s. The car will also not shift into 3rd and the motor revs to 3k before engaging when traveling at 45 mph in 2nd. I read that the trans uses the tables from the TPS sensor for shifting so I unplugged the TPS sensor to make sure no water got into the connection. Everything looked good, so I decided to let the car set for a couple of days hoping that everything would dry out. I cranked it today without any change. The car is has a 350 with a 4L60e automatic trans, and a MadZ28.com tune. Can anyone direct me where to start looking for the problem. Thanks

Sounds like you might have blown a vacuum line off the manifold?

Re: High Idle (2k rpm), Trans dosen't want to shift

Thanks for the reply Ol' Dad. I cheched the vacuum lines the other day and double checked them today after reading your reply, and everything seems to be in place. I decided to spray a little water around the intake with the engine running to see if I could get a rpm change. When I sprayed the passenger side, the rpm's droped quite a bit. I know that a vacuum leak can cause a high idle, but can it affect the shifting of the trans? Thanks again
