Is this a High Flow Catalytic Converter

What the subject says.

I cant bring myself to blow $250.00 on a Random Technologies CC. I want to keep my catalytic converter to avoid the raspy noise and funky smell.
Is there somthing better for a decent price?

Re: Is this a High Flow Catalytic Converter

I don't think they are marketed as a high-flow converter, but alot of people post good feedback about them. Plus they only run around fifty to sixty bucks so you can't go wrong. I was planning on buying one myself, but my application required something a little smaller so I decided on a pair of 3" high flow minicats from the Pypes company. I am pretty happy with them, they cost a 140.00 for the pair and shipping was free. The Random Tech stuff is nice, but it is kind of pricey. I bought a 3" downpipe w/ a high-flow cat. for my Grand Prix last year and it cost 350.00

Carsound/Magnaflow is a high flow cat, I had one on my car... You can find it on ebay cheaper than at their site.

Re: Is this a High Flow Catalytic Converter

I would stay away from the Universal/One size fits all Catalytic converterl. Catco makes a high flow 3" in/out Cat which is a direct fit, check at Sumitt for the year, engine of your car, About the $125 range.

Re: Is this a High Flow Catalytic Converter

So i wonder what the problem is with the universal?

The magnaflow direct fit will include the welded on y-pipe to the same converter. This is also the on that shows up under the application finder for LT1 along with the direct fit.
I am going to fab a bracket to secure it to the exhaust pipe mount.

I cant find a direct fit Catco at the Summit web site.
Why would the Catco universal be any better than the Magnaflow universal.

Re: Is this a High Flow Catalytic Converter

On the topic of high flow cats my cat got clogged on my firehawk so I had it replaced with a formula cat since SLP did not have their cat available at the time. Does anyone know if there is a difference in performance between my old cat and the formula cat?

The cat I have now only cost me $63 shipped.
Random is a nice product but way to pricey if these others ar comparable.
I dont think the Random is lot better to justify nearly $200 more.
