Hi Idle

Hey guys, car is having some issues....let me know what you think could be the culprit.

The car idles high, around 1000-1100 usually. When I push in the clutch to downshift, the revs sometimes jump up to the 2500ish range, then slowly come back down to around 1000. I noticed the other day in traffic, i was in 1st gear, foot on neither clutch gas (speed was ~10-15mph) and the car was accelerating ever so slightly up a hill.

I thought it might ahve been the IAC, or maybe the IAT, ar maybe a throttle cable getting stuck somehow....any thought?

Thanks in advance, sorry for the long post.

Re: Hi Idle

I had the same problem and changing my TPS solved it. check your TPS by taking it off and using a wide flat tip horizontally and turning it 90 degrees counter clockwise. If the screw driverblade is wide enough but doesn't catch the teeth in the TPS you need a new one, or if it is hard to turn or when you let go it doesn't snap back to it's original position it is worn and you need a new one. Mine cost about $30 after tax at Checker. Though this isn't to say something else may not be wrong.

Re: Hi Idle

Did you clean your TB recently? After I cleaned mine, my rpms would hang. Dab some oil on the butterfly rod where the rod enters the housing.
